Tony Benn: 'I've always loathed royal occasions'

Veteran left-wing campaigner Tony Benn, who has died at the age of 88, recalled in his audio diary how the Queen was paraded in front of oil workers "as if they were animals at a zoo".

Describing the visit to Aberdeen in 1975, he said: "It's a disgrace that a Labour government can allow this to happen. I've always loathed royal occasions."

This is a clip from the first series of The Benn Tapes, first broadcast on BBC Radio in 1993.
