Labour: Scrapping NHS pay rise is 'a kick in the teeth'
Shadow Health Secretary Andy Burnham has described government moves to halt a pay rise for NHS staff in England as a ''kick in the teeth.''
Public sector increases are capped at 1%, but the Department of Health has urged the NHS pay review body to withhold the rise for its 1.3m staff.
Mr Burnham said he agreed with pay restraint, but warned the plan would have a negative impact on morale amongst health service workers.
