Three-yearly checks proposed for nurses and midwives

The Nursing and Midwifery Council is recommending that all nurses and midwives are assessed every three years.

The regulator is proposing checks which would include feedback from patients, colleagues and employers.

The system - known as revalidation - could be in force by 2015.
