BBC racing commentator Richard Pitman donates kidney to stranger

BBC racing commentator Richard Pitman has donated one of his kidneys to a complete stranger.

The former jockey was moved to undertake the altruistic donation after seeing one of his close friends benefit from a kidney transplant.

Mr Pitman has not been informed of the identity of the recipient, however the kidney transplant was successful and the person has now been able to stop dialysis.
