The actor, writer and director Harold Ramis has died in Chicago.

The actor, writer and director Harold Ramis has died in Chicago.

He was one of Hollywood's most successful comedy film makers, known for blockbusters such as Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day, which he co-wrote with Bill Murray.

He died peacefully at his home after a long illness.
