Trevor Nelson: Prince is 'a music industry rebel'

Following Prince's recent surprise shows in London, BBC Radio 1Xtra DJ Trevor Nelson has described the rock star as a "music industry rebel".

Speaking to BBC Radio 4's Today programme, he explained that Prince continues to take "the independent route" rather than being signed to a music label.

Music journalist Simon Price stated that the devoted fans at the artist's guerrilla gigs are "more receptive to hearing untried material" compared with those attending much larger shows.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Monday 10 February.
