New Bond author is 'brilliant' says Fleming niece

The niece of James Bond creator Ian Fleming has praised author William Boyd for his new 007 novel.

Lucy Fleming, an actress, is thrilled that Boyd is continuing the series - 60 years after Bond first appeared in Casino Royale.

'Solo' is set in 1969 and sees Ian Fleming's secret agent, now aged 45, sent on a mission to stop a civil war in West Africa.

Lucy told BBC Radio 5 live's Breakfast: "He's an absolutely brilliant writer and he knows that period, that background... It just seemed like a good fit."
