A-levels: Students achieving A* grade rises

A-level results figures show a slight rise in the numbers getting the top A* grade - although the overall pass rate has fallen for the first time in 32 years.

A record number of university places available means some students will be able to get into their chosen institution - even if they have not achieved required grades.
