MP: Left-handed pupils are 'let down' by schools
Left-handed children are being let down by the education system, a Conservative MP has claimed.
Sir Peter Luff, who is himself left-handed, said teachers should be better trained to identify left-handed children and provide them with the right equipment.
Mr Luff told BBC Radio 5 live's Breakfast: "If you don't spot left handedness... their development can actually be impaired and they can lose confidence."
The Department of Education said non-statutory guidance for teaching left-handed pupils was present in the first draft of the new National Curriculum but it was open to interpretation by teachers.
