HIV ban lifted: Risk to patients 'negligible'

The risk to patients being treated by medical staff with HIV is "negligible" if the medic in question is on effective combination anti-retroviral drug therapy, England's chief medical officer has said.

Prof Dame Sally Davies' comments came as it was announced that a ban which prevented healthcare staff with HIV performing certain procedures had been lifted.
