The Golden Isle: Ireland's gold

Ireland might be known as the Emerald Isle, but a six year survey has identified huge gold deposits, which could help the country reduce its debt.

Ireland's prospects have improved following its exit from bailout at the end of 2013, but it still owes the troika - the EU, IMF and European Central Bank - more than 70 billion euros.

Increasingly, the Irish have been examining their own natural resources to see what potential oil, gas and now gold may have in aiding the country's recovery.

After a six year survey, the Tellus project has identified gold in the ground in huge deposits.
