Interest free loans for indebted Kuwaitis
Kuwait may not have had an Arab Spring of its own, but it is no stranger to protests and political division.
In an attempt to show it is looking after its people, the Kuwaiti government has now announced it will pay $2.6bn to settle bank loans owed by about 48,000 Kuwaitis.
They will then be able to repay the government over time and interest free. But does this send the wrong message about taking on debt?
