Time to end the HK dollar link?

Ever since it was founded, Hong Kong has had some form of linked foreign exchange system, be it to silver, then the British pound, and now the US dollar.

The link has enabled Hong Kong to flourish as a centre of global trade. But twice this week the Hong Kong Monetary Authority has intervened to keep the HK dollar pegged to the US dollar.

Now some people are now asking whether it is time to break the link. The BBC's Juliana Liu reports.
