Bank ATM plans 'hit vulnerable'
Plans by some banks to restrict access to certain cash machines could exclude some customers and affect some of the most vulnerable in society, according to consumer finance experts.
In August, a million Royal Bank of Scotland customers with basic bank accounts were told they could withdraw money only from RBS, NatWest, Tesco or Morrisons cash machines - with RBS blaming the move on costs.
Andrew Tyrie, chairman of the Treasury select committee, has written to RBS and Lloyds Banking Group, which has a similar policy, to ask for an explanation.
James Daley, editor of Which? Money, believes that banks have a "social" and "moral responsibility" to look after vulnerable customers.
