Food and agriculture ministers meet to reform CAP

Europe's twenty-seven food and agriculture ministers will meet to begin the tough job of reforming the controversial Common Agricultural Policy, otherwise known as the CAP.

With food prices rising sharply again, the priority in Brussels is to secure affordable food supplies in Europe and at the same time improve production methods.

But diverting any of the billions of euros spent on supporting farmers into new areas will not be easy.
