Nelson Mandela death: Maya Angelou's poetic tribute

10 December 2013 Last updated at 21:00 GMT

As tributes to Nelson Mandela poured in from around the world, a poem by his friend Maya Angelou captured how many were feeling.

In His Day is Done, she wrote "we will not forget you, we will not dishonour you, we will remember and be glad that you lived among us".

Angelou spoke to the BBC's Jonny Dymond from her home in North Carolina.
