Twitter starts marketing in the Middle East
As governments fell in Tunisia and Egypt, the events were dubbed by some as a "Twitter Revolution" because of the important role played by social media at the height of protests.
In the past year, the number of users in the region has trebled - and it is growth that Twitter is capitalising on, trying to turn those figures into a profit.
Twitter's Vice-President of International Revenue Shailesh Rao spoke to Katy Watson from Middle East Business Report.
