While Qatar is well-known for high-profile investments like London's Shard of Glass, foreign spending is just the tip of the iceberg.

With rising commodity prices and pressure to spend domestically, Qatar is looking at industries that will support growth on its own turf and one industry that's being targeted is financial services.

Companies are being wooed with lucrative deals to get them to set up shop in the desert, but what, beyond hard cash, is in it for businesses?
