Arrests after nuclear protest on Glasgow's Finnieston crane

Anti-nuclear protest banner The three men ended their protest peacefully and safely after almost 14 hours on the crane

Three men have been arrested after they scaled Glasgow's Finnieston crane to protest about nuclear arms.

The protesters had climbed over a fence at the crane's base at about 06:30 and attached a large banner saying "Nuclear disarmament - if not now, when?"

Police negotiators could not coax the men down but the trio - aged 18, 19 and 25 - descended peacefully at 20:00.

They were arrested and detained in custody ahead of an appearance at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.

It is not clear if the men are attached to any anti-nuclear protest group.
