Carbon capture scheme collapses
A £1bn project to turn a Scottish power station into a world leader in climate-change technology has collapsed. The scheme at Longannet in Fife aimed to capture harmful CO2 from coal and store it in disused oil fields under the North Sea. But the UK government withdrew funding, saying it was not providing value for money.
