Denmark's Social Democrats in historic election victory


Denmark's centre-left Social Democrats have claimed victory in the country's general election, ending nearly a decade in opposition.

Party leader Helle Thorning-Schmidt will become the country's first female prime minister, after campaigning on a platform of tax rises and increased public spending.
