Cosmetics giant L'Oreal makes profit despite downturn


The cosmetics giant L'Oreal is expected to unveil healthy profits for the first half of the year on Tuesday.

L'Oreal is benefiting from the "lipstick effect" a theory that says consumers spend more on little luxuries during a downturn.

As the BBC's Jeremy Howell reports while its customers appear to love its products, advertising watchdogs are proving harder to please.
