News Corp's BSkyB takeover bid delayed?

Help

On 8 July 2011 the British government closes its consultation period for the takeover bid from Rupert Murdoch's News Corp for the British broadcaster BSkyB and there has been a deluge of last minute objections.

They have come after the shock decision last night to close Britain's best-selling Sunday newspaper, the 168 year old News of the World, as the phone hacking and bribery scandal escalates.

The BBC has spoken to Gustaf Duhs, head of competition at law firm Stevens and Bolton, about the takeover and whether News Corp could be seen as a fit and proper owner off the back of the hacking scandal.
