Travel firm Expedia says Japan's tourism 'will recover'

Help

The impact of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, as well as natural disasters in Australia and New Zealand have taken their toll on tourism in the region.

Major airlines have cancelled flights and routes but despite this, Scott Durchslag, President of the world's biggest online travel site Expedia, says any setbacks will be temporary.

With a growing middle class in China and India, the tourism industry in Asia is now seeing "real change".

"The whole world is now 30% off, if you're in India, because the rupee is so strong," says Mr Durchslag.
