Teenager charged after Highfields bank robbery

A teenager has been charged in connection with a robbery at a Leicester branch of Barclays Bank.

A security guard had entered the premises in Wood Hill, Highfields, just after 1035 BST on 27 April when a bag containing money was grabbed from him.

Leicestershire Police said the 18-year-old was arrested in the West Midlands where he was being held in custody for another unrelated offence.

He remains in custody and will appear in court at a date yet to be fixed.

There were no reports of anyone being hurt during the raid.
