Girls left alone with dead mother

Two sisters, aged three and four, have been taken into the care of social services after spending the weekend trapped in a house with their dead mother.

Officers were called to the property in Wirral, Merseyside, on Sunday when neighbours saw the girls' legs dangling out of an upstairs window.

Crews then found the body of Debbie Caldwell, 29, at the house in Albert Street, Wallasey.

One man has described how the girls were found.
