Kim Cattrall The Golden Globe winner will return to Liverpool in October to play Cleopatra

Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall is visiting Liverpool to be honoured for her contribution to the arts.

Liverpool John Moores University is making the star an honorary fellow.

The award-winning actress, who was born in the city before her family emigrated to Canada, is patron of the Liverpool arts cinema FACT.

In October, Ms Cattrall is to appear at the Liverpool Playhouse in a production of Anthony and Cleopatra.

In 2009 she visited Merseyside to take part in the BBC TV series, Who Do You Think You Are? where she traced her roots through her mother Shane's side of the family.
