A man held by detectives on suspicion of murdering his neighbour in a dispute over a fence has been released on bail.

David Fantom, 63, was found collapsed with head injuries outside his semi-detached home in Windermere Road, Offerton, Stockport, on Thursday.

Neighbours said he had been involved in a row with next-door neighbour Donald Bowman about a 6ft (1.8m) fence.

Police said a 56-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder had been released on bail on Friday afternoon.

A post-mortem examination proved inconclusive and further tests will be carried out, police said.

Detectives said they were treating Mr Fantom's death as an "isolated incident".

Mr Fantom had lived at the house with his wife Elaine for about 30 years.
