Rothbury resident on Raoul Moat search with armed police


A local businessman in Rothbury has been speaking about life in his town as police continue to hunt armed fugitive Raoul Moat.

He is thought to have shot 22-year-old Samantha Stobbart twice and shot dead her new partner Chris Brown, 29, outside a house in Birtley, Gateshead on Saturday.

He is also wanted for the shooting of Pc David Rathband, 42, in Newcastle on Sunday.

Butcher Morris Adamson said that he felt relatively safe as there was a large police presence in the rural area.
