Eight still in custody over fatal stabbing in Bristol

Eight people remain in police custody after an 18-year-old man was stabbed to death in a street in Bristol.

The incident happened in Stapleton Road at the junction with Villiers Road, in Easton, shortly after 2300 BST on Thursday.

The man, named locally as Abdi Razak, was taken to the Bristol Royal Infirmary where he died.

Two of those arrested are aged 16, three are 17, one is 18 and two are aged 20.

Police investigating the murder confirmed that the victim lived locally and that his family had been informed.

Streets in Easton and the St Pauls area of the city were cordoned off for forensic examination for most of the day.

Offices and shops in the area were closed and drivers advised to avoid the area.

Det Ch Insp Phil Jones, of Avon and Somerset Police, said: "At this stage of the investigation we are still trying to ascertain what the motive may be.

"I'd like to take the opportunity to appeal for calm within the community and to appeal for any witnesses or any member of the community who might have information with regards to this tragic incident to please come forward."
