Dannii Minogue gives birth to baby boy

Minogue joined the X Factor panel in 2008

X Factor judge Dannii Minogue has given birth to a baby boy in Melbourne, Australia, she has announced.

She and boyfriend Kris Smith said Ethan Edward Smith was born on Monday. "Mother and baby are doing well and dad is very proud," a spokesman said.

Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger is currently standing in for Minogue, 38, on the judging panel for X Factor auditions.

Minogue will return to the judging panel later this year.

Guest judges standing in for Minogue in auditions have included Katy Perry, Pixie Lott, Natalie Imbruglia and Geri Halliwell.

Meanwhile, fellow judge Cheryl Cole is absent from auditions because she is being treated in hospital for Malaria.
