Cyclist's foot trapped by hedge trimmer in Shropshire

A cyclist suffered a serious foot injury when he slid into a tractor-driven hedge trimmer in Shropshire.

The accident happened on the B4579 Oakhurst Road just outside Oswestry at about 1540 BST.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said it appeared the 38-year-old local man had come off his bike, slid and his left foot had then gone into the blades.

The man was taken to University Hospital of North Staffordshire for surgery to try to save the foot.
