Ex-charity fundraiser facing fraud and theft charges

A woman who raised funds for a cancer charity in Nottinghamshire has appeared in court charged with defrauding the organisation.

Emma Critchley, 35, of Sherwood Dene, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, pleaded not guilty to two counts of fraud and another of charge of theft.

Ms Critchley appeared at Mansfield Magistrates' Court where she will return on 2 September.

Ms Critchley used to work for the Maggie's Cancer Centre in Nottingham.

Magistrates heard Ms Critchley was accused of putting a cheque for £3,500 into her own bank account and buying a satellite navigation system.

A third charge relates to an accusation of stealing £8,000 given by Mansfield District Council to a community project she ran.
