The winner of the UK City of Culture 2013 will be revealed on 15 July

The winner of the UK City of Culture 2013 will be revealed in Liverpool on 15 July.

Londonderry is in the running, along with Birmingham, Sheffield and Norwich.

Una McGillion, from Derry City Council, said nerves and excitement were building.

"Last week we were convinced they would have made the announcement this week, and then the details came through and we've got another week to wait," she said.

"We've been working away on the basis that this is going to positive news.

"Regardless of getting the title, 2013 is going to be an amazing year."

The bid team, along with Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness, travelled to Liverpool last month to deliver their final pitch.

"We left Liverpool feeling really proud of what we had achieved. There was nothing more that we could have said," continued Ms McGillion.
