The parents of missing Madeleine McCann are to meet the home secretary to discuss the search for their daughter.

The meeting has been arranged after an exchange of letters between Kate and Gerry McCann and Theresa May.

Madeleine went missing from a holiday flat in Praia da Luz on the Algarve in May 2007, aged three.

The McCanns want to discuss progress of the search for Madeleine and want a review of information in the hands of the British and Portuguese authorities.

A Home Office spokesman said details of the meeting were still being confirmed.

The Metropolitan Police has said there are no plans to reopen the investigation.

Madeleine, from Rothley in Leicestershire, has still not been found despite worldwide publicity.
