A man has been remanded in custody charged with the murder of care worker Ffion Wyn Roberts.

Factory worker Iestyn Davies, 53, is charged with killing the 22-year-old care worker from Porthmadog, Gwynedd.

Davies, of no fixed abode, will reappear on 9 July at Caernarfon crown court.

An additional bail hearing will be held in Mold crown court on Friday, but the court heard there would be no application for bail.

At the hearing Davies spoke only to ask for the proceedings to be conducted in Welsh and to confirm his date of birth.

Miss Roberts's body was discovered in a ditch in Porthmadog on 10 April.

A post-mortem examination showed she was strangled and there was evidence of drowning.
