A farmer from Wiltshire has been ordered to pay £12,750 after mud on a road led to a fatal car crash.
Mesut Kayran, 28, from Swindon, died on the B4014 between Tetbury and Malmesbury in 2008.
Swindon Crown Court heard the farmer George Withers, 38, from Malmesbury, had attempted to clean the road. The judge said he had not done enough.
An independent report found police who visited the scene should have done more to make the road safe.
At an earlier hearing, Withers pleaded guilty to failure to discharge a duty imposed on an employer under the Health and Safety Act.
He was fined £11,250 and ordered to pay £1,500 prosecution costs within nine months, or face a 12 month prison sentence.
