Perranporth kite buggy man airlifted after accident

A man who was thrown from a kite buggy on a Cornish beach has been seriously injured.

The accident happened at Perranporth beach just before 1500 BST.

The rescue, involving St Agnes cliff rescue team, a helicopter from Culdrose and RNLI beach lifeguards was co-ordinated by Falmouth Coastguard.

The man has been flown to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro with head and spinal injuries. His exact condition is not known.

A spokesman for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said it was not known if the injured man was on holiday or local to the area.
