Work starts to flatten 'eyesore' Penarth housing estate
Work has started on demolishing what has been called Wales' ugliest eyesore. The 20 blocks of flats which comprised the Billybanks housing estate in Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan have dominated the town's skyline since the 1970s and could be seen for miles around.
The site enjoys a fine view of Cardiff Bay below, and will be replaced by a new housing development.
Carwyn Jones reports.
