Baby Peter doctor 'missed chance'

Help

The GP who saw Baby P missed a "unique opportunity" to send him to hospital eight days before his death, a hearing has been told.

Dr Jerome Ikwueke appeared before the General Medical Council facing allegations of professional misconduct.

He disputes the claim that he neglected his professional duty to look after Peter Connelly, who died on 3 August 2007 with more than 50 injuries.

The hearing is expected to last for several weeks.

Branwen Jeffreys reports.
