Rescued US teenage sailor's father attacks critics

The father of a 16-year-old American girl who was rescued when she ran into trouble attempting to sail around the world has hit out at those who have been critical of her voyage.

Abby Sunderland was picked up by a French fishing vessel some 2,000 nautical miles off the Australian coast.

Laurence Sunderland said his daughter had great skill and passion and described her as "remarkable".
