Masked men shot a man in the house last month

The home of a man shot by a vigilante group in Strabane last month has been extensively damaged in a fire.

Brendan McCafferty, 25, was in bed when two masked men forced their way into his Glebe Gardens home at about midnight on 22 May.

The men, from the group Republican Action Against Drugs, beat him with a bat and shot him in the arm and legs.

On Thursday, police said they were investigating a suspicious fire at a vacant house in the Glebe Gardens area.
