Cumbria police confirm a solicitor was among those killed


Detectives in West Cumbria are working to identify the precise sequence of events that led to Derrick Bird shooting dead 12 people and wounding many more.

Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Hyde from Cumbria Police confirmed that a local solicitor was among those killed.

Police have released a map showing the roads the 52-year-old taxi driver is believed to have travelled on during a three hour killing spree in Whitehaven, Egremont, Gosforth and Seascale, before he turned one of his guns on himself.
