A new halal food park in Norfolk could create up to 300 jobs, it has been claimd.

The Simply Halal abbatoir uses only 20% of the purpose-built meat processing premises at Moor Farm, Banham.

Food industry firm NPD Services is negotiating with other firms to work alongside the abbatoir to develop a packing factory and a cutting plant.

The site meets EU standards and the new factories could create up to 300 jobs in three years, NPD Services said.

The first 100 people would start within the next 12 months.

Halal meat means the animals are slaughtered according to Islamic law with products going into markets in the UK and France.‬‪
