Extinction threat to ancient venomous mammal
One of the world's most ancient and bizarre mammals is on the brink of extinction.
The solenodon is 76 million years old - dating from the time of the dinosaurs - and is the only mammal with a venomous bite.
Now scientists are staging a last ditch attempt to save the unique creature, which they say provides a window back into the prehistoric world.
BBC science reporter Rebecca Morelle joined them in the Dominican Republic as they tried to track down one of the elusive animals.
