Council backs Forres flood prevention scheme

Councillors have backed a £40m flood prevention scheme for Forres in a bid to protect homes and businesses.

Members of Moray Council's planning committee gave officers the power to grant approval once some "routine matters" are finalised.

Next week will see the start of a local public inquiry into the application for a flood prevention order for the scheme.

Moray has been badly affected by flooding in recent years.
