Sheridans appear in perjury case

Former MSP Tommy Sheridan and his wife Gail have appeared in court on perjury charges.

It is claimed the couple lied under oath during Mr Sheridan's libel action against the News of the World in 2006.

Mr Sheridan won a record £200,000 damages from the paper over allegations about his sex life.

The preliminary hearing was held at the High Court in Glasgow, after being moved from Edinburgh. The trial is due to begin in September.
