Little Ship captain remembers Dunkirk

It is 70 years since Operation Dynamo, the evacuation of Allied soldiers from the beaches and harbour of Dunkirk.

In the rescue hundreds of private 'Little Ships' sailed from Ramsgate to rescue troops from the Dunkirk beaches, carrying their survivors to larger ships waiting offshore.

James 'Lofty' Christmas was the only known surviving veteran who as a young man took a Little Ship across to Dunkirk as part of Operation Dynamo, but sadly he died earlier this year.

Before his death he spoke to the BBC about his memories of the operation - starting with his arrival in Ramsgate as he received his orders.
