Physical Description
Dusky dolphins have a dark upper surface, light under-surface and a two-tone dorsal fin. They have a short, thick beak, small compact body and a black patch around the eye.

Distribution
They inhabit coastal regions from below the Tropic of Capricorn to the sub-Arctic.

Diet
Dusky dolphins feed on fish and squid.

Behaviour
Schools of 20-300 individuals are typical, and they are highly gregarious, regularly associating with other species.

Conservation status
Dusky dolphins are classified as Data Deficient by the IUCN Red List.
