Physical Description
Geoffroy's tufted-eared marmosets have white cheeks, foreheads and throats, bordered by black ear tufts. The body is black with brown undersides and a black striped tail.

Distribution
Geoffroy's tufted-eared marmosets inhabit Brazil.

Habitat
Their preferred habitat is secondary lowland, evergreen, and semi-deciduous forest.

Diet
Geoffroy's tufted-eared marmosets feed on fruit, small animals and insects.

Behaviour
They are diurnal and arboreal, and typically live in groups of 8-10. They move through the forest quadrupedally, but they are capable of leaping.

Reproduction
Geoffroy's tufted-eared marmosets have a gestation period of around 140-145 days, giving birth to 1-2 young. Males coil their tails as a sexual display previous to copulation.

Conservation status
The 2000 IUCN Red List classify these marmosets as Vulnerable.
